5 things to know about Packers seventh-round pick Michael Pratt
- The Green Bay Packers used the 245th overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft on Tulane quarterback Michael Pratt, a record-breaking passer who will get a chance to compete for the backup job behind Jordan Love.
Pratt produced 118 total touchdowns over 44 career starts at Tulane. The Green Wave won 24 games over the last two seasons and were ranked in the Top 25 at some point each season.
Here are five things to know about Pratt, the Packers’ first of two seventh-round picks in the 2024 draft:
Pratt set new school records at Tulane for passing yards (9,602), completion percentage (60.6), touchdown passes (90), passing efficiency (148.0) and interception percentage (2.16), and he finished in the top 10 in several other categories, including attempts, completions and 300-yard passing games. While a smaller school, Tulane has a rich history of quarterback play — JP Losman, Patrick Ramsey, Shaun King and Tanner Lee were all NFL draft picks.
As a true freshman, Pratt led all freshman quarterbacks in touchdown passes (20) and was named a Freshman All-American. In 2023, Pratt was a first team All-AAC and the AAC Offensive Player of the Year.Pratt accomplished two notable things during this four-year starting career at Tulane. First, he improved his completion percentage each season, going from 55.1 as a true freshman to 65.4 percent as a senior. Pratt also threw at least 20 touchdown passes with fewer than 10 interceptions during each of his four seasons as a starter. Between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Pratt threw 49 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions while completing 64.4 percent of his passes and averaging 8.5 yards per attempt as Tulane went 21-3 in his 24 starts, which included wins over Kansas State, Cincinnati and USC.
