The former US Open champion paid a heavy price for double faults in the third set. Last time I lost to him in a third-set tiebreak. American Christopher Eubanks, who defeated defending champion Alexander Bublik 7-6 (7-5) 4-6 6-3, will face Zhang next. After winning a close tiebreak in the second set, German world No. 4 Alexander Zverev defeated Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) to advance to the round of eight. “Very content with my presentation, I’m partaking in the second in these lovely courts, content with the manner in which I’m playing,” the 27-year-old Zverev said. The Frenchman Arthur Fils, who defeated German Dominik Koepfer 6-3, 6-4, will play the second seed next.
